|eintraegeExt=Karl Braun married twice. The first marriage he entered with Martha Brabaender on 26 September 1904. The freshly married couple traveled to Amani in October 1904 and lived there until 1907. The marriage was divorced on 27 December 1907. One of the reasons for the divorce was Karl Braun's suspicion that Martha Braun was having an affair with Julius Vosseler, a zoologist working at the Amani Institute. Several passages in Braun's diaries from the years 1904 to 1907 are written in a secret script that was deciphered as part of the research project.7) In them, Karl Braun reports on his unhappy marriage. | |||
